"Winter" delights

Christmas and New Year are coming up and everyone is in a rush to get prepared. Hey! I wasn't even able to purchase some christmas tree decorations today - most of those are sold out! Already! :)

Anyway, we have been extremely lucky, as we got an opportunity to go to Sydney for a week, do some travelling and.. most importantly.. spend NY night with our friends :) Some of them are coming back from overseas and some are doing travelling around Australia just like us, as luckily stopping in Sydney 31 December. Woo hoo!

Hurray!

My intuition didn't let me down, as usually! I'm extremely happy !

Intuition or our inner side

Sometimes I have these strange feelings inside, which I prefer to take as my intuition. They are unexplainable, unreasonable, sometimes stupid but always true. When I don't follow them I regret it later, when I do follow I hope for the best outcome.

I'm going through it again now and I really hope that my intuition will be the right choice! So far it hasn't let me down. Fingers crossed! :)

We are back

Can't say much now except that we absolutely loved it in Fiji and .. well.. I really don't want to be back in Australia now! I was reminded one thing which I forgot years ago - you really don't need money to enjoy your life. The more of it you have, the more miserable you feel. It's amazing, but it's true - we are a bunch of rats these days, running in circles, not having the time to live.

Last day

Tomorrow is my last day at MM. I hate it when people ask " Are you excited?!". How can I be excited when I'm leaving behind my friends, people I worked with for years and whom I sincerely like and respect? No, I don't feel excited at all. The only thing that makes me feel better is a thought about being in Fiji in a couple of days. .. and maybe some shopping >:)

No idea...

New Year is coming up and I have no freaking idea on how to celebrate it. Sick of restaurants, balls and dinners with family. I've been wanting to have it on the beach with a group of friends, but no one ever wanted to do it for some reason.

Would love to go away elsewhere in Australia, but it's impossible to book a room in the hotel just for a night or two around New Year - you have to take the whole week. aaaaaaa...

One year I WILL go to Europe somewhere and celebrate this holiday in the snow. Palm trees and 40 degrees don't really do it for me.

Nabucco

I must say - I absolutely love opera and try to see every one of them shown in Brisbane. Some of them are spectacular, such as 'Madama Butterfly' - singing, costumes, decorations, the whole athmosphere and voices - everything is amazing!

Others are like 'Nabucco'. Beautiful Verdi's opera with a story about Babylon's conflicts with Assyria 600 BC. Loved the chorus performance and the music. The thing which I could not understand and which made me quite irritated - why does Australian Opera constantly modernise classical pieces? Why was Assyrian King wearing Ostap Bender's suit and hat and Babylonians looked like Russian communists? Hmm..

I understand that their land has not been in piece for thousands of years - Assyria, Persia and now Iraq, but why ruin beautiful classical opera with decorations showing planes, helicopters and flying rockets? I guess pure classic art doesn't excite people these days and they need something that reflects modern life. Shame...

FIJI! Here we come!

We finally got sick of saving and saving and saving for our next European holiday. It's summer after all and vacation time! Fiji, here we come! Going to Warwick (Coral Coast) in November.

Can't wait! :))

I PASSED MY FIRST EXAM! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY :))))))

Thursday 23 August 2007

Fingers crossed!

I've been unbelievably slack with my studies. But.. But I finally completed my assignment and sent it off for checking today! Fingers crossed!

PS I actually can't believe that I did it.. ha ha!
It's been raining and raining and raining.. aaaa.. And windy, very very windy! I really think August is my least favourite month of the year in Australia. Cyclons, winds, rain and cold...

What's with today's female image?

I don't get it..
A few days ago I received a newsletter from some fashion store with a clearly anorexic model on the cover. I mean - even I think she is way too skinny. Those protruding bones looked scary and completely unsexy!
I think it's a shame that long gone the days of pinup girls and female curves. Girls go on some crazy diets to look like catwalk models, ruining their health.
I'm no Marilyn Monroe myself, but compared to those cover girls I'm FAT! :)

What's wrong with the fashion industry, people?..

I just hope that this summer I'll actually be able to find a dress that will not compress my almost non-existing breasts into a complete washboard. Sad..

Luv gardening :-)

With the first warm days of summer (sorry, can't call Brisbane's 27 degrees a winter) we decided that it's time to move out to our beautiful huge balcony. Never really being into gardening much, I though of creating a little oasis at home, lush and green.
Spent about 2 hours digging in dirt and fertilisers and re-planting my gorgeous palm trees, flowers and a little baby guava and.. it's amazing how good and energetic you feel after!

Decisions...

It seems to me that the older I get the harder it is to make changes in my own life. Now, as the time came to getting a new job, new athmosphere and new opportunities, I started to get my doubts.
After tens of exhausting interviews and always being picky at new changes, I've decided that I'm happy the way I am now. Maybe I just realised that I'm not in such a bad position right now and have more freedom and respect as it is.
I've decided to concentrate more on my studies instead of chasing new work choices and challenges.

This week I had a trip to Sydney for a work conference. I was surprised at how enjoyable it came out for me and how much fun I had with people I work with. It also came to me that I am much more respected and valued by seniors than I thought.

Sometimes it's good to see things from a different angle to realise that you are valued and appreciated.

New beginnings

It's always hard to leave a place where you spent so much time, where you are used to people, love them and loved by them. But the new time comes, requiring changes, growth and opportunities. Such is life :)

My skates! :)

I believe I can... kind of... fly!

I think anyone, who hasn't tried roller skating, should try. It's amazing - good fun and good exercise! :)

I spoiled myself a little bit today - went and bought a really good pair of skates. I think it's a good investment in myself. Even though it was only my second time skating, but it felt sooo good! I can now go on my own for a little while, can break a bit and develop speed. It's not as hard as it seemed to me the first time.
But really - a big NO to cheap skates. No enjoyment and a real hazard of breaking your legs.

Luv doing it by the river after work. Such a great way to unwind after a busy day :)

Let's rrrrrroll baby!!

Saturday 12 May 2007

Rollerblades

Today was the first time when I tried rollerblades! Whatever I was thinking before, it turned out to be much harder then I expected. I couldn't let go of Fabrizio's hand for a moment, as I was almost falling all the time. :)
Nevertheless, it was fun! I think I'll need many many many more lessons before I can rollerblade a little bit.

PS Trying not to think about tomorrow morning, when every muscle in my body will be in pain :)

Happy Birthday... to me!

Feel like 22, look like 25 ( so i was told.. ha ha)

Happy Victory Day to everyone!!!

Saturday 5 May 2007

Hm... Yeah... Good luck with seeing that movie!
When we arrived at South Bank, we discovered that there was absolutely no parking. How exciting..
Turns out it's some Buddha Birthday Festival. Southbank was exploding with people! After driving around a bit we decided to come back home. Woo hoo! Saturday night! :) (yep - I'm being sarcastic)

Here I come...

I never thought I'd have my own blogger. I still think it's a quite stupid idea, but hey... I'm bored, there is nothing to do at the moment and I have to do something with myself while quitting smoking.

In Queensland we are now having a long weekend. Why? Well, it's Labour Day on Monday. It's strange - in most countries that celebrate this day, it actually comes on the 1st May. In Australia it's on the 7th. Sorry, not in Australia, but in Queensland. I don't even have any idea about the rest of Australia. Maybe they don't appreciate labor as much as we do :)

Today I decided to say a big NO to studying and went shopping. I must say - I don't do it often these days, maybe I kind of lost interest. Nevertheless, the shopping was good.

Not willing to sit at home all night, my man and I decided to go and see a movie - "Curse of the Golden Flower". I read the storyline - doesn't look too bad actually. And... to be honest.. I'm getting a little sick of a typical american movie - blood, guts, sex, drugs. I have enough stress in my life as it is.
